Lewes, Delaware Beach House Wedding: Ashley + Gary
You really can't go wrong with a wedding on the beach - but I think Ashley and Gary really took it to the next level. It looks like they had an amazingly fun day with their family and friends, and I'm so happy they shared it with us! Ashley chose the perfectly boho glam Lindsay dress by Nicole Miller (now, sadly, discontinued), and I think it's cheeky sparkle fit her personality to a "t."
When you tried on your dress, how did you know it was the one?
A friend of mine told me I needed to go to Glitter and Grit to find my dress and as soon as I walked in I knew why. The boutique was lined with an eclectic variety of beautiful gowns and I am pretty sure I tried on (and loved) almost every single one. Trying on each uniquely designed dress felt so surreal. I came out of the dressing room to show my sisters, mom and best friend the last one I tried on - and their expressions were priceless. When I looked at myself in the mirror it finally felt real. That was THE dress. I never in my life imagined my perfect wedding gown and at that moment I realized that I could never dream of something so beautiful.
What was your groom's reaction to seeing you in it?
Gary and I did a first glance moment at Cape Henlopen, DE an hour before the ceremony. As I walked to meet him, which seemed like the longest walk of my life, I was thinking about what he would say. When I tapped him to turn around, he didn't budge! After multiple taps and persuasion from our wedding party, he finally turned. A man of many words (most of them jokes) had tears rolling down his cheeks and was silent. His expression meant more to me than any words he could have said.
Please tell us your favorite thing about Gary...
I am so fortunate to have Gary be by my side as my partner in life because he is the most genuine man I have ever met. Gary always wants everyone to be happy and would do anything to make sure his friends and family are having the best time possible. I am looking forward to a future of sharing endless laughter with him and creating incredible adventures together.
Please describe the most memorable moment of the day.
Gary and I have always loved dancing although we have zero rhythm. One of my favorite moments of our wedding day was seeing his face when I had the DJ play one of Gary's ridiculous favorite songs, the Thong Song by Sisqo, as we walked down the aisle after the ceremony. It was the perfect way to start as husband and wife – to dance like no one was watching!
Our wedding took place on May 23, 2015 and it was located at “The Yellow Beach House” in Lewes, De. My family has been blessed with the opportunity to vacation at that house for the past 15years. The house and the beach represent so much happiness and captures many memories that family has shared together. Having all of our friends and family at such a magical place made my heart explode with joy. We wanted to have our day be as personal as possible therefore great friends and family helped make our own decor, DJ the wedding, and even marry the two of us. The day captured everything and everyone important to us.
