When did you enter the wedding industry? What made you want to do so?

I entered the wedding industry when I lived in Brooklyn about 7 years ago.  I was head over heels in love with flowers, and the shop that I worked in had a great retail and wedding business.  I think that is when I was bit the bug.

What was your most glittering moment in your business (what are you most proud of)?

So far, my most glittering moments are the relationships I have created with clients and other vendors.  I've gotten something in my eye more than once when handing a bride her bouquet (too much?).  The support and comradery of vendors makes this job that much better. I'm of the school, "We're all in this together!"

What's your grit? What sets you apart? Or, what's your specialty?

I just opened my very own retail location! I carry flowers and botanically inspired gifts and apothecaries.  During the growing season I will be able to stock the store with flowers from my gardens on my family farm as well as from other amazing local flower farmers.

What is your favorite part of what you do?

I have a few favorites these days!  #1 I just love when anybody walks into the shop.  It makes it all seem so real but I still have to pinch myself at times. #2 I LOVE my time on the farm. Being in the gardens reminds me why I do all of this.  It's a magical calm in a wonderfully crazy wedding season. #3 Meeting my wedding clients for the first time! I love collaborating and coming up with a custom design to help express their personalities through flowers.

Please share a most memorable moment in your adventures in the industry.

My most memorable experience being in the industry so far was growing and doing all of the flowers for my own wedding.  My family and I were out on the farm at 5am the day before the wedding harvesting our bounty.  It was a lot of work but we had the best time.  I'd do it all over again in a heart beat.

Please describe your ideal client, i.e. who will love you, what's your style/niche?

My ideal client would be someone with an open mind, but has an idea of the aesthetic they are aiming for.  Oh! And color.  It doesn't have to be crazy (but it sure can be!), but I love mixing hues and creating a palette to accentuate the details.  My style tends to have a more loose, organic vibe and I try to use local product as much as possible.
